Productive Practices

Did you make a New Year’s resolutions to be more productive in your business? This can be much easier to achieve if you are a person who already writes lots of to-do-lists, gets up earlier then you need to, or can block out constant email alerts. But for those of us who need some help, here are five tips that can get you focused and working more efficiently:

Organise your day into time blocks

Some people are early risers, some are night owls, and there are those that peak in the middle of the day. It is important for you to determine what part of the day you are most productive then organise blocks of time for more focused tasks.

Break down your big projects

Starting on a large complex project can often be daunting. One easy way to get started is to break the project down into smaller and more manageable tasks. You’ll be surprised how much you can get done if you just get started!

Do the things you don’t want to do

We all have those tasks that we keep putting off, but you don’t have to like something in order to get it done. By not allowing yourself to procrastinate with the thought of having to get in the right frame of mind for a particular task, you can just get on with it and tick it off.

Don’t get paralysed by perfection

We all want to create that perfect report, project or product, but greatness can come from a collaboration of well thought moments, not just one. It can often be better to get something out the door then hold onto it in the hope of removing every possible flaw. Just be careful not to hurt your brand by compromising on quality!

Write an old fashioned to-do-list

This might sound cliché, but a daily to-do-list with all the tasks you wish to accomplish will help to keep you focused. The physical action of ticking something off or crossing it out can be very satisfying.
